Water Restrictions
Griffith City Council has introduced MANDATORY LEVEL THREE water restrictions. These restrictions must be adhered to and will be enforced throughout the Griffith City Council area. These restrictions apply to both potable (drinking or town) water and raw water. They also apply to all homes, businesses and industry.
Effective from 1 July 2010
"Odds and Evens Basis" means properties with an odd numbered street address are permitted to water on an odd numbered date of the week, and properties with and even numbered street address are permitted to water on an even numbered date of the week. Properties without a street number are deemed to have an even numbered address.
DOMESTIC
Lawns & Gardens
You may water two (2) hours max. per day on Odds and Evens Basis between the hours of 7am-10am, 4pm-7pm (non daylight saving) and 6am-9am, 6pm-9pm during Daylight Saving period.

Council approved Subsurface watering permitted for two hours during hours stated below.

Bucket use with hand held trigger nozzle to rinse and pre-rinse only.

PUBLIC, COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL
Gardens, Parks, Open Space and Businesses including the grassed verges abutting property
Two hours maximum per day on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays only. Manual water systems permitted between 5am-10am. Automatic timed systems between 12am-6am. Bucket watering permitted at any time.
Nurseries and Commercial Growers
Maximum five (5) hours/day for fixed spray systems
Hand watering allowed at all times
On the spot fines can be issued to residents and businesses which breach the water restrictions.
Residential fines could be up to $220 and business or industrial fines could reach $2,200.
